Week 1Wednesday8/23 Finish reading “The Stolen Party.” Please read carefully and annotate as you go (underline important parts and reflect in the margins). Be sure to read carefully so that you are prepared for a reading quiz and/or class discussion tomorrow. Thursday8/24 Reflect on the ending of "The Stolen Party." Choose at least two significant quotations and analyze their meaning and their importance to the story as a whole. How does Heker use the opposing viewpoints of the characters to develop her themes? What does Liliana Heker teach us about real life through this story? Friday8/25 Read in your IR book. Aim to read about 70 pages per weekend, or 12 pages a night in order to reach the A level by the end of the quarter without a last-minute crisis. If you’re reading more than one book, the first book tests are due by September 13. The next book test is due by October 11.
