In Year 10 students pick four options. Two options (for three periods a week) in the first half of the year, and two options for the second part of the year.
In today’s changing world of work our advice is to keep pathways as open as possible for as long as possible. The best way to do this is for students to take four different options.
Year 10 Options:
Digital Technologies (STEM)
Drama
Financial Literacy (Economics)
Design and Visual Communication (DVC)
English Language Learning
European Languages
Food and Nutrition (Home Economics)
Horticulture (AgriBusiness)
Materials Technology
Music Technology
Music Performance
Te Reo Māori
Visual Art
Outlines of the subjects can be found on their pages. If not enough students opt to take a subject it will not be able to be offered.
A few students may wish to take an option for the full year because they have a real talent for it and see it as a definite career pathway. Selected students may be able to do this in Music, Visual Art and Digital Technologies.
