Year 11 Music covers three essential skill areas:
1. Performance: Opportunities to develop your skills on an instrument or voice through solo and ensemble performances. Regular practice, recitals, and performances are integral parts of the course.
2. Composition :(creating music)
3. Music Skills : (Recreating songs on a Digital Workstation e.g. Garageband)
The course emphasizes both practical and theoretical aspects of music, ensuring students gain a well-rounded and comprehensive understanding of the subject.
NCEA Level 2 Music; Performance Music; further music making as a career or leisure pursuit.

Year 10 music is essential. If you have not completed Year 10 you must be learning from a private music tutor for at least three years. Students must have prior knowledge and ongoing tuition in instrumental music (voice is an instrument). An audition may be required. A basic level of theory is required.
Practical musical involvement in school music activities. Theory of music, grade one is a good start.
Possible costs include: instrument hire $90; itinerant lessons are free, private lessons at students cost. Some costs may be involved for trips etc. (Subsidised lessons may be available for qualifying students). A device is required if doing composition.
