This course is designed for those who do not have English as their first language. It will provide revision and support in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
In addition, a large part of the course will focus on preparing students for the NCEA Literacy Co-Requisite assessments in Reading and Writing. You will learn how to write a formal letter, a formal email, and a short article, in preparation for the Writing Assessment, and get extra feedback on your writing and grammar. You will also expand your vocabulary and practise reading and understanding a variety of texts.
This course leads on to English Language Learning for Years 11, 12 and 13, which offer a course with NCEA credits.
