This course builds upon the foundational concepts and skills acquired in Year 11, providing a more in-depth exploration of mathematical and statistical principles and their applications. Year 12 Mathematics and Statistics focuses on enhancing analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and preparing students for advanced studies in Mathematics and Statistics. The study of Statistics is particularly useful as it complements the study of Sciences and Social Sciences.
This course consists of a selection of internally assessed achievement standards which cover the subjects of mathematics and statistics. There is an external examination on the topic of Probability.
The purpose of this course is to build on mathematical and statistical skills the student already has in order to prepare them for the mathematics and statistics of everyday life and the workplace. On completion of this course students may progress, depending on results, to study Year 13 Mathematics and Statistics.

This course is designed for those students who have successfully completed the 11 Maths and Statistics course in Year 11.
As part of this course students will need:
A scientific calculator. Essential.
Graphics calculator. These can be hired from the library for a fee of $15 or purchased for around $200.
Work booklets that cost approximately $30 (available through the school).
