COURSE PLANNING GUIDANCE
Advice for career and subject choices is available at school from Teachers in Charge of subjects, Deans and the Careers Adviser. Please ask more than one person for such guidance.
The following people can advise parents and students with overall course design for 2026 –
Mrs Borrie Careers Adviser kateborrie@cromwell.school.nz
Ms Gallagher Deputy Principal karengallagher@cromwell.school.nz
Ms Robertson Deputy Principal marcellarobertson@cromwell.school.nz
Mr Thomson Deputy Principal gregthomson@cromwell.school.nz
TIMETABLING CONSIDERATIONS
Classes will be organised and timetabled only if there are sufficient numbers of students interested, and if staffing and resources are available.
There may be combined classes, classes through Net-NZ video conferencing or Te Kura (Correspondence School). Our goal is to have students taught here, wherever feasible.
You may select subjects at a lower level if you want to improve earlier results, or if you need certain prerequisites, or feel that work at your new year level is too difficult.
A number of courses have costs associated with them. These may be for materials ‘consumed’ by the student or for field trips. Note: Outdoor Education, Year 11 PE, Materials Technology, Home Economics and some distance learning and polytechnic courses have significant course costs. There may be part or full charges for students.
Students will need to have shown previous commitment to sound work habits before the school will allow them to do distance learning courses.
Student choice determine the structure of timetable subject lines
Students with subject choices that do not fit the constructed lines will need to re-choose their subjects. Guidance will be given.
