DVC at Year 10 is a broad design course that sets students up with the skills to succeed at Year 11 DVC.
The course will cover;
Architectural design
Product design
Fundamental 2D and 3D drawing skills
Computer modelling
Design history
Model making.
Some of the projects completed in previous years include; night light design, apartment redesign, jewellery, wearable tech, unusable design, and flat pack lighting. Students will learn the skills to use the prototyping equipment in the classroom (laser cutter, 3D printer)
This course leads on to full-year courses in Years 11,12 and 13 where students can specialise more in the areas that interest them. Further study could lead to architectural studies, industrial design, graphic design, and many more.
Course costs $25
This covers an equipment pack, drawing paper, project-specific materials (for example, night light base), model-making materials such as wood and acrylic for laser cutting, and plastic for 3D printing.
