This course builds upon the foundational skills and knowledge acquired in Year 11, providing a deeper and more advanced exploration of musical performance, theory, and composition. Aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum, Year 12 Music is designed for students who are passionate about music and eager to further develop their technical proficiency, creative expression, and analytical abilities. This course prepares students for advanced studies and diverse career opportunities in the music field.

A combination of the above course content may be possible. Course is individualised. Students will
be involved in school performances.
NCEA Level 3 Music; Performance Music; leisure activities; electronics; careers in broadcasting; teaching; television; music therapy music sales and advertising.

Grade 2 Theory or equivalent, or success in Level 1 NCEA Music. Students must be receiving ongoing tuition in instrumental music (voice is an instrument). Four years of ITM.
Practical musical involvement in school music activities.
Possible costs include: instrument hire $90; itinerant lessons are free, private lessons at student’s cost. Some costs if travelling to events.
