The Croton Harmon students and staff are putting on Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel for the CHHS Spring Musical in May. Set in coastal Maine toward the end of the 19th century, Carousel follows the story of Billy Bigelow (Samuel Katzman) and Julie Jordan (Rebecca Zinn) who meet when Billy is a carousel barker and Julie is a mill worker. Julie who is sweet and loving with an independent streak falls for the self-confident and harsh Billy. The two marry and later find themselves both unemployec which sets up the basis for the plot. Carousel explores age-old themes of imperfect decisions, love and some darker themes of abuse that eventually drive the characters to a resolution.
Carousel also features CHHS seniors Maya Gardos (Carrie Pipperidge), Hazel Stevenson (Mrs. Mullin) and Isabelle Schuyler (Policeman, Starkeeper, Dr. Seldon). Also in the cast are Madison Nikic (Nettie), Anders Nelson (Enoch Snow), Hudson Villeneuve (Jigger), Zachary Epprecht (David Bascombe, Enoch Snow, Jr.), Elsa Jagodzinski (Arminy), Molly Levitt (Heavenly Friend), Caroline Casieri (Louise Bigelow), Zoe Conti (Sailor), Brian Gilbert (Captain, Carnival Boy) with some CET and PVC students joining the cast as well.
