CHHS’ Theatre community is preparing for its first ever fall musical: Sondheim’s Into The Woods. Cast and crew members are putting the finishing touches on the famous productions, which is set to open on November 22. The musical is set in a land of fairy tales and brings together familiar stories like Cinderella and Little Red Riding hood in a way you have never seen before. The musical offers a mashup of stories with a grim twist and a great soundtrack.
“Each song is so intriguing and [the show] will have you on the edge of your seat, ” explained cast member Bella Hope.
The story follows a baker, played by Sam Katzman, and his wife, played by Ariana DiMarco, on their journey to lift a spell that has been put on their house. Along the way, well-known fairy tales are woven together into an exciting, dramatic performance. “Into the Woods gives you a magical experience...the cast is fun to work with and it’s something everyone can enjoy,” said cast member Rhea Barkan.
Production members are all excited to for their final product to reach the stage. As tech week approaches, the show begins to come to life. There will be a CHAP performance during school and a soft opening for senior citizens on Thursday, November 21st, the night before the show opens to the public.
