This year’s Shakespeare production isn’t just going to be entertaining, it’s going to be insanely hilarious! Twelfth Night is a show filled with comedy, trickery, love triangles...and brawls.
Twelfth Night is centered around protagonist Viola (Anya Arkin) and her brother, Sebastian (Hudson Villeneuve) who, in a twist of fate, were shipwrecked off the coast of Illyria and separated. Viola must disguise herself as a man to make a living in the house of Duke Orsino (John Erskine), who is in love with Lady Olivia (Ariana DiMarco). Throughout the show other side characters work together to trick Malvolio (Rebecca Zinn), Olivia’s obnoxious servant, into believing that Olivia is in love with him, when in reality Olivia is in love with the male disguise Viola is in.
“I’m excited to play such a dynamic character in one of my favorite Shakespeare plays,” said Anya Arkin. “It’s really easy to understand, and it’s hilarious.”
“It’s an amazing play because it really pushed the boundaries of what a comedy was back when Shakespeare wrote it,” said Maya Gardos.
Cast members have been rehearsing for the past 4 weeks to bring both comedy and romance to the stage. Sir Andrew Aguecheek (Zennor Angove-Cohen) and Sir Toby Belch (Sam Katzman) bring witty jokes and antics to the show. There will also be songs of good life sung by Feste the Fool (Alex Villeneuve).
As the cast and crew enter their final week of rehearsal, they urge you to come to the show. If you want to come see hilarious jokes, a crazy love story, and insane people getting what they deserve, then come see Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night on February 7th and 8th at 7:00pm.
