Over the past weekend, Croton hosted the annual Mayclim basketball tournament. Every year, all four of Croton’s basketball teams play their games in addition to other schools attending and competing in the tournament.
This year, the only team to win the first place spot in the tournament was the girl’s varsity team. In the first round, they defeated Highlands High School with a score of 60-29. They went on to face Haldane for the title match and defeated them in another blowout, with the score 69-32.
The players were obviously very excited as this marks the start of what should be a very successful season. When asked about their season ahead, Emma Conlin, a junior on the team, said, “I’m really excited to see what the rest of the season holds, I think we have great potential for the season and sectionals. I think our team has what it takes to go much farther this season.”
