The Board of Education has decided to add a new parking lot to the school solely for students. Students have been asking for more parking and it has finally pulled through. This new parking lot will add enough parking for almost every junior and senior.
The parking lot will be built above the baseball field with a ramp to the teacher lot, leaving enough room for play on the field, as long as no one hits it too high. There will be a generous 30-ft high ceiling, so the chances of that happening. Because of the high first floor ceiling, the structure will be big and bold and add a new “skyline” to the campus. Also, the great thing about the parking lot is that there will be no more parallel parking along the wall.
The lot will be named after Max Dumpley, who graduated CHHS in 1976 and went on to invent the flickering lighting that makes parking garages super creepy. The Dumpley lot is proposed to be finished by late 2025. The funds to build it are being taken out of the Air Conditioning and Cooling fund for the school, as well as the funds for sustainability in our school. Unfortunately until the lot is built, there will be limited parking for teachers and students.
