Safety

The smart cutting machine is very safe; however, some safety rules must be followed when using the Cricut.

Handle the blade with caution.
Never leave the machine unattended, especially if dealing with a thick material.

Rules

If you will be cutting anything in large batches (i.e. more than several sheets of paper) please get staff approval first.
As a reminder, you are not permitted to sell anything made on the equipment in the space.

How do I ACCESS THE Cricut?

The Cricut is one of the few pieces of equipment in the makerspace that does not require training to use. Once you have access to the space, by filling out the agreement form, you may follow the guides below to make a bookmark, vinyl decals, and more!

MATERIAL COSTS

We will provide the blue light grip machine mat. However, users will be responsible for bringing in their own materials to use on the machine.

Please note that our Cricut has the Premium Fine Point Blade, which can only be utilized for vinyl, iron-on (HTV), cardstock, poster board, faux leather, and paper.

In addition, the blue light grip mat works best with "light materials," including vinyl, paper, and iron-on.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

This is a computer-guided cutting machine that works by utilizing various blades and tools (pens) to engrave, draw, and cut different materials. This machine is operated via the Cricut Design Space website. In addition, the Cricut Maker 4 is twice as fast with materials on and off the mat.
