Business Cards

Step 1

Download and open this template file.

Fill the file out however you'd like! It's set up to make things easy for you, but don't feel like you have to stick to the design. As an example, I made the design unique in this tutorial by using fun fonts!

When you're done customizing the template, use one of the computers in the manufacturing lab to upload your design to the laser-cutting software (as detailed here.)

Step 2

Place the wooden template with your card inside of the laser. Make sure to line it up with the corner of the bed so it's nice and straight!

Step 3

The next part is a bit tricky, but hang in there!

Keeping the laser open, position the head in the corner of the template.

Step 4

Once the laser is positioned in the corner as pictured above (it should be somewhere around 1.485", 1.475"), change to the move tool on the laser software and move your design to match the corner. Make sure to drag your design using the center node!

Step 5

Now, all you have to do is match your settings to mine.

Select Anodized Aluminum, change the material thickness to 0.132", and (most importantly) CHECK THE SKIP BOX ON THE BLUE VECTOR ENGRAVE.

When your settings match the ones pictured here, hit "apply" and then "OK".

Step 6

Click the large green play button and watch the magic happen!

When you're finished, take both the template and your card out of the laser and turn the equipment off.

Enjoy!
