Only makerspace staff and approved staff/faculty will be permitted key card access to the makerspace.
The makerspace will only be open to members during operating hours.

Shop Etiquette
Members must always badge in when entering either the Prototyping Lab or Manufacturing Lab.
Inform makerspace staff if any equipment is damaged while you are using it. Equipment damage is a normal part of the shop environment. For safety reasons, it is important to report to a staff member immediately.
Do not attempt to engage with others while they are operating tools or equipment. This can lead to accidents.
Ask a staff member for assistance if you are uncertain about using a piece of equipment. We are happy to help!
Always clean up after yourself and return tools to their proper storage locations after using them.
Safety
No food or drink in the makerspace. Closed top drink containers are acceptable.
No open-toed shoes, flip-flops, sandals, or heels.
Tie back long hair securely.
Never use tools or equipment while tired, distracted, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Do not force equipment or tools. Ask a staff member for assistance if you encounter any difficulties in operation.
Only specified equipment may be left running unattended, for all other equipment ensure that it is OFF before walking away.
Certain equipment may only be operated under staff supervision. Please refer to the training guides and rules for each of the equipment to find out more.
Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required. These will be indicated in the training for each of the equipment.
The Manufacturing Lab will require safety glasses at all times.
Project Storage
If you have projects that you would prefer to keep in the space, we now have some policies on how you can do that. For the extra cubbies, users can keep parts that fit in there for up to 48 hours with a sticky note indicating whose parts it is. Any parts that are left too long will be put in the giveaways bin.
For longer term projects or projects that are too large, please send an email to dci_lab@chapman.edu with information about the size and duration of the project and if approved we will find a space for you.
