Taking off the previous stencil

To take off the previous stencil used for this machine, start by loosing the black handle screw on the topside of the machine.

Here is what they should look like. Doing this will allow you to move that bar up and down along the metal rods, loosing or tightening the stencil in the process.

Move the bar up to release tension along the stencil.

Here is what it should look like, slightly loose.

Loosen the two black knobs on the top of the machine. Doing this will take off the support bar along the underside.

Here is the removed bar. Be careful none of the small metal bits fall and get lost.

Do the same for the bottom side bar.

Placing the circuit board down

These are magnets used to hold the circuit board in place. They can be move around the black magnetic part of the machine.

The circuit board has drill holes on the corners. Line the magnets up with the corners and place the circuit board on the magnets.

The magnets are tricky to move around small increments, so take your time placing these down.

Once you have the board in place on the magnets, line your stencil up with the board to get the correct direction. You will then be able to place your stencil down, opposite of how we removed it.

Placing the stencil

Place your stencil down along the bar, going through the small metal bits and screws.

Place the bar down along the underside, lined up with the bits and the edges. Tighten the black knobs along the backside. Do not tighten them fully. Keep them somewhat loose until we move the bar down for tightening the stencil.

Do the same for the top bar.

With the black outer knobs loose, move the bar down to create tension along the stencil. Make sure that the stencil is flat. Tighten all knobs to keep the stencil in place.

Now you are ready to line up the stencil to the board.

Lining up the stencil to the board

When you lower the top side down to the board, it will most likely not be lined up, as shown here.

These three knobs are used to move the circuit board around as necessary.

The two knobs on the side of the machine move the board back and forth horizontally, the bottom one moving the bottom side and the top one moving the top side. Both of these moving in unison will move the board equally back and forth.

The front knob will move the board up and down vertically. Only one knob here.

Adjust all three knobs until you have successfully lined up your stencil with the circuit board.

Here is the the stencil lined up correctly with the circuit board. You are now ready to apply your solder paste!
