Changing bits 

1. Use the hex key on the side of the shaper spindle (half a turn) to easily remove the spindle.

4. Tighten the spindle nut with a wrench while holding down the locking mechanism.

5. Put the spindle back into the Origin, and tighten it with the hex


2. Hold down the spindle lock button, loosen the collet and insert in the router bit you plan on using. 1/8” or ¼” spindle collets may be used.

3. Insert bit so the length of the shank is inside the collet. Make sure the cutting flutes don’t go inside the collet.

Shaper Tape & Scanning

2. Plug in the shaper and press the "New Scan" button on the left hand side of the screen 

3. Once the shaper tape is in view press the "Start" button and then move the shaper tool until the field of tape turns blue

Cut Parameters & Z-Touch 

To adjust the cut parameters, select "cut" on the right hand side. 

Adjust parameters to make sure it matches your design and the bit that is inserted in the shaper.  

Always double check Cut Depth and Bit diameter

Z-Touch: 

Before start a cut, place shaper on your workpiece and press "Z-Touch" and then press "Automatic" 

Adding a design file

Use a USB-C to cut saved svg files

Select "Design" and Import" then select your svg file

Select your svg file or folder within from the USB

Place your design on your workpiece making sure the shaper has room to make the cut. Once you are happy with the position, select the green Place button

Starting your cut

Hover over the cut path you want to start with first, then turn on the spindle. 

On the left panel, you can check and adjust your cut type

Green button: This button will lower your bit and start the cut. Hold the green button for the Shaper to guide you through cutting the design

Red button: To retract the bit at any point press the red button and it will raise the bit out of your material.
