LODOVICO CARDI (ILCIGOLI)
Lodovico Cardi said Cigoli from the village where he was born in 1559 in the town of San Miniato. It has been a painter, draftsman, sculptor, set designer and architect. Today is the greatest glory of painting that can claim the territory of San Miniato. It was opposed by Monsignor Massimi to Caravaggio and to work to Passignano sacred subject "Ecce Homo" and was considered by the customer the winner of the test. This painting is now located in Florence, in the Palatine Gallery. His best works are preserved in San Miniato, Florence and Rome. In San Miniato, in the Conservatory of Santa Chiara, he is the painting "Noli Me Tangere". In the years of youth and nurtured for life, a friendship was born in Florence between Ludovico Cardi and Galileo, as evidenced by the chart of the years 1609-1613. Cigoli tried his hand in first person with the observations of the heavens and depicted for the first time in the history of the Moon "Galileo". He died in Rome in 1613.
