The lesson begins with Mr McAllister introducing the children to a new topic, Planet Tea. He then extends the discussion from the various ways you can make tea, to consider how that affects its taste and then, how could they find the best tea tasters in the room? Following this he demonstrates equipment and techniques they could use for their investigation (counting taste buds without a magnifier; using a magnifying glass; illuminating the area to be studied with a torch; using a simple camera on an iPad to enlarge the area examined).
