3.iv. Strategic questioning (to rehearse and contextualise new vocabulary)

Mrs Pottle asks the children to imagine what it would be to be the bat at the point in the story that they are drawing. To engage them emotionally she also asks them about the feelings the bats might have at other points in the story. There is also a discussion demonstrating the development of powerful adjectives (descriptive end words) and verbs (doing words).

As the class discussion continues the children add the descriptive words to their booklets .
