1.Introduction

This project is designed to illustrate aspects of creativity in primary schools

Jules Pottle receiving her Primary Science Teaching Award in 2015

This website is the first in a series of online materials designed to share examples of creative practice. These illustrations of teaching and learning are designed to help teachers appreciate what creativity might look like in their classrooms.

These classroom episodes are presented to highlight features of teacher’s creative practice and the nature of creativity that emerges between children in the process of learning.

Each of these web pages showcase a range of episodes from Primary Science Teaching Award (PSTA) award winners’ classrooms.

In the following webpages, the imaginative use of storytelling in science, as demonstrated by Jules Pottle. It is detailed so that the engaging strategies she utilises are made explicit and could be adopted by other teachers.

Additionally, the legacy of Jules Pottle’s creative teaching is described by six year 10 students (see section 5). They reflect on her imaginative approach to teaching science and how it has helped them during their secondary school experience.

Reuben’s and Layla's comments below highlight why children love Mrs Pottle’s storytelling science lessons.
