Neil McAllister, in 2013, collecting his Primary Science Teacher Award

This website is the fourth in a series of online materials designed to share examples of creative practice. These illustrations of teaching and learning are designed to help teachers appreciate what creativity might look like in their classrooms.

These classroom episodes are presented to highlight features of teacher’s creative practice and the nature of creativity that emerges between children in the process of learning.

Each of these web pages showcase a range of episodes from Primary Science Teaching Award (PSTA) award winners’ classrooms.

This website illustrates how Neil McAllister engaged his pupils with creative strategies. to enable his pupils become the scientist (observing closely and think scientifically).

Additionally, the legacy of Neil McAllister's creative teaching is described by his former pupils (see section 5). They consider his imaginative approach to teaching science and how this has supported them during their secondary school experience.

The comments below highlight how Mr McAllister engages the pupils and enthuses them to think like scientists.

The children talk about their enthusiasm for science, when being taught by Mr McAllister.
