Mr McAllister introduces the investigation by asking questions.

· How do we find the best tasters?

· How do we work out who is a super taster, a taster or non-taster?

In the next episode (section 3.iii) Mr McAllister shows the children how to count the number of taste buds on each others tongues. He asks them to keep the following in mind when carrying out the scientific investigation :

0-5 taste buds = Non-taster

6-10 taste buds = Taster

11+ taste buds = Super-taster
