Mpox

As of August 2022, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 2 Travel Health Notice for Mpox in multiple countries. Mpox has been reported in several countries that don’t normally report the virus (like Europe, North America, and Australia).

Mpox is a rare disease that is caused by infection with the Mpox virus. At the moment, the risk to the general public is low, but you should seek medical care immediately and avoid contact with others if you develop a new, unexplained skin rash (or lesions on any part of the body), whether or not you have fever or chills.

According to the CDC, the majority of confirmed cases are men, and sexual contact has been the predominant cause of infection.

If you are sick and believe you could have monkeypox, call our 24-hour emergency phone immediately (+ 34 675 23 56 56) and our Health & Safety team will assist you to get medical assistance.

We recommend you go ASAP to the Delfos Clinic emergency room to receive medical attention. Your insurance will cover this visit. Please, inform the Clinic, via telephone before arriving if possible, that you are concerned about monkeypox.

After the initial check-up, the medical professionals will determine the need for isolation until you receive your test result. If you test positive for Mpox, the healthcare provider will advise you to isolate yourself until complete recovery.
