Going Abroad Again

Want to continue the adventure? Working overseas can be difficult without a visa or local passport. You can look forward to spending tons of money on lawyers and paperwork to be able to stay legal and work abroad (especially in Spain). A company that wants to hire you would also have to pay a lot of these fees, so unless you are offering them something they can’t get here in Spain they probably won’t want to go through all the hassle. But don’t give up, there are ways around this!

Think about coming back to do an internship with us if you were studying, or coming back to study if you were doing an internship. It is a great way to get back to Spain and even further develop your resume and you get a BIG DISCOUNT.

Think about getting your masters degree here, there are even some programs available in English and all are far less expensive than the US. There are lots of options, but here are some to start:

Teach-abroad programs will give you work papers for the place you are going and arrange a job in a school. Most also give you a stipend to pay your day to day expenses. Think about Spain or South America to teach and improve your Spanish, or go somewhere totally different like Thailand, South Korea or Japan for a new experience. Google search “teach abroad” and the country you are interested in. You can also look into teaching at American Schools abroad – there are two in Barcelona and they are often picking up new teachers. They have a worldwide network and lots of experience getting paperwork for Americans.

Peace Corps are not for the faint of heart, but is one of the best things you can have on your resume. You are signing up for a 2-year commitment and should plan to work hard and be challenged greatly during that time, but it is definitely a life changing experience. There are plenty of other volunteer organizations out there that will help you see the world and do lots of good.
