dental services in barcelona
Delfos clinic
Our students usually visit our partner clinic Delfos, as they have an International Department with English-speaking staff (all details here). Delfos has a dentist service, and usually, there are available appointments within 2-3 days, depending on the urgency.
Unfortunately, most dental services are not covered by insurance, so you should be aware of the cost (see insurance coverages below).
The price per visit at Delfos is around 105 euros, and RXs are around 100 euros. If there is need for any dental work, this will be another added cost.
To book an appointment with Delfos:
Email Delfos Clinic at delfos@hminternationalbcn.com informing them that you are a Barcelona SAE student and that you need a dentist appointment. Remember to inform them of your availability for the appointment, and let them know how urgent the visit is. Delfos has an international department with English-speaking staff, so you can contact them in English.
For the visit, please go directly to the International Department desk (located in the Urgent Care waiting room), and remember to bring your ID or passport, your insurance card (you should have it in your university email inbox), and a debit/credit card.
URGENT CARE: If you are suffering from dental pain and need to see a doctor urgently, we recommend you visit the Emergency Room of Delfos directly. A doctor will see you and will be able to prescribe you some medication while you are awaiting the dentist appointment. This visit to the ER will be covered by insurance with direct billing if you have CISI, Geoblue, or Gallagher insurance.

DENTAL insurance coverage
Your study abroad insurance will probably have coverage for emergency dental repair due to an accidental injury. Keep in mind that insurance does not cover cosmetic/esthetic dental procedures.
If your insurance covers the dental work you need, you will have direct billing with Delfos Clinic (meaning you don't have to pay out of pocket). If you visit any other dentist you will have to pay out of pocket, and then make a reimbursement claim with your insurance.
CISI
If you have CISI as your study abroad insurance, this is what it covers in relation to dental services:
Accidental dental charges for emergency dental repair or replacement to natural teeth damaged as a result of a covered Injury including expenses incurred for services or medications prescribed, performed, or ordered by a dentist.
With respect to Palliative Dental, an eligible Dental condition shall mean emergency pain relief treatment to natural teeth up to $500 ($250 maximum per tooth).
GEOBLUE
If you have Geoblue as your study abroad insurance, this is what it covers in relation to dental services:
Repairs to sound, natural teeth required due to an Injury: Benefits are payable for dental care for an Accidental Injury to natural teeth subject to the following:
1. services must be received during the six months following the date of Injury;
2. no benefits are available to replace or repair existing dental prosthesis even if damaged in an eligible Accidental Injury; and
3. damage to natural teeth due to chewing or biting is not considered an Accidental Injury under this Certificate.
Gallagher
If you have Gallagher as your study abroad insurance, this is what it covers in relation to dental services:

1. Injury Only: Treated as any other injury.
2. Alleviation of Pain: $250 per tooth, $500 max
