Halal & Kosher
If you follow a Halal or Kosher diet, you will still be able to do so in Barcelona! Below you'll find resources, restaurants, and more on both Halal and Kosher cuisine.
HALAL BUTCHERS & RESTAURANTS
Foods labeled as halal adhere to Islamic dietary laws, containing only ingredients permissible for consumption according to Islamic faith. In Barcelona, a variety of dining establishments cater to those following a halal diet, offering diverse cuisines such as Indian, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Moroccan, and more.
The image that you see on the right is the image used to indicate that a restaurant is officially halal certified. You'll see this on the resturant's menu, website, or physically displayed in the restuarant itself.

KOSHER SHOPS & RESTAURANTS
The Catalan capital has a local but relatively small Jewish community, with estimates placing the figure at between 5,000 and 15,000. This small number means that unfortunately, can be difficult to find kosher food (Kashrut certificate) in Barcelona. We will share with you some of our student's favorite stores and restaurants to enjoy Kosher dishes in Barcelona.
KOSHER SHOPS
Ben Ben Kosher supermarket: -European products, fresh meat, you can find a Lemehadrin Bar.
Babait Supermarket: This store is located right next to the main shul. From cheeses and meats to canned products and snacks.
KOSHER RESTAURANTS
Maccabi: Everything served in this restaurant is done so under a Kashrut certificate. The building has a very unique history, originally serving as a bread oven in the seventeenth century. Now, the restaurant is a bustling building that offers a wide range of traditional kosher dishes to diners. On the Shabbat, you can also enjoy takeaway service from the restaurant.
El falafel d'en Shani: A falafel sandwich delight located in the most traditional and central market of Barcelona, La Boquería. One of our student's favorite places! It is also vegetarian and gluten-free!
Taím kosher catering. Delicious food to order with both store pick-up and delivery.
La Balabusta. Their Israeli-born chef creates dishes from the Middle East that combine Mediterranean, Sephardic, and North African flavors.
