 Attention all Juniors and Seniors: On October 25, during period 4, Columbia University will be making a presentation in the Counseling Center.  If you are interested in attending, please come down to the Counseling Center to sign up.

 Did one of your students, faculty or staff members do something wonderful this past month?  Please take a moment to recognize this act by nominating him/her for student of the month or faculty/staff member of the month.  We need nominations for students from 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade.  Please submit all forms in blue or black pen only!  Just as students deserve to be recognized, teachers and staff do as well.  Please take a moment to stop by any Assistant Principal’s Office to pick up a form to nominate a teacher or staff member who has had an impact on you in a positive way.  Please drop off all nominations to the 1 West Office.

Attention all members of the William Floyd Gay-Straight Alliance:  Mrs. Searing is looking for volunteers to help make rainbow ribbons for National Coming Out Day on October 11.  If you wish to volunteer some time, please see Mrs. Searing in the Counseling Center to schedule a time to help.

Do you need more help with global history?  Come to Room 401 after school every Tuesday from 2:10-3:10 for global history extra help. See Mr. Gross in Room 401 if you have any questions.

 Any girl interested in trying out for the Girls Basketball team there will be an informational meeting in Room 206 on Wednesday, October 10 from 2:15 - 3.  Important material will be discussed regarding tryouts and expectations for the Girls Basketball team this winter.  Any questions or issues please see Coach Sinclair in Room 206.

 Attention all Students:  Tickets are now on sale for all grades for the Pep Rally and Homecoming Dance in the 2 West and 3 West Offices.  Please remember that you must have a valid student ID card to obtain a ticket and to attend.  ONLY William Floyd students are permitted to attend these events.  Please note that the tickets for the Pep Rally are free and on a first come first serve basis. Tickets are limited so get them while they last!  Tickets for the Homecoming Dance will be $5.00.  Get your tickets before and after school or during your lunch period or study hall.  Students on fall sports teams do not need tickets to the Pep Rally, as the athletic sticker on your id is your ticket.

 Attention Seniors:  Parking applications are now available in the 1 West, 2 West and 1 East Offices.  You must be a graduating senior with class D driver’s license, registration and insurance card to get a parking sticker.

 After school math regents prep is a great opportunity to brush up on your skills for your upcoming regents in January and June.  Algebra 2 regents review will be in Room 207 today.

Are you interested in local history?  Do you enjoy learning about our community and school?  If you answered yes to these questions, then the History Club is for you!  Our first History Club meeting is Wednesday, October 17th, during Extra Help in the Rita Rech Museum of William Floyd History, which is located right here in the High School.  If you would like more information about the History Club or the museum, see Ms. Devenny in the High School Library.

 Attention Seniors:  Your unofficial transcript is available for your review on the student portal this week only.  Please take the time to review your transcript.  If you have any questions or concerns, please see your school counselor by Friday, October 12.  Official transcripts with class rank should be available by the end of October.

 Dr. Incantalupo and Mrs. Janowicz are looking for a few Yearbook Club members to help prepare Senior Favorite Ballots and update showcases.  There is a voluntary meeting for anyone who would be willing to help with this.  We will meet in Room 257 at 2:10 on Wednesday, October 10.  Stop by Room 136, Room 257 or the Chairperson’s Office if you have any questions.  Thanks!

 The Girls Freshman Cross Country team took first place overall at the Westhampton Beach Invitational. Congratulations!

 Welcome to Spirit Week William Floyd!

Today is Meme Day! Tomorrow, October 10 is Safari Day! Break out all your tropical and safari attire!  Thursday, October 11 is Elderly Day!  What will you look like as a senior citizen?  Friday, October 12 is Floyd Friday!  Dress in green and white to show your Floyd Pride! Go Colonials!

 There will be a Stony Brook STEP meeting on Wednesday, October 10 from 2:15 to 3:10 in Room 228. If you are not able to attend the meeting, please see Ms. Swiss in Room 254 or Mrs. Hernandez in Room 228.

 The Varsity Football team made it 5 and 0 on the season by beating Central Islip 47 to 7. This week for homecoming it will be 5 and 0 Floyd against 5 and 0 Ward Melville for first place.

 Congratulations to the Varsity Tennis girls who participated in the Division Tournament this past weekend.

 Attention Homecoming Candidates:  There is a mandatory meeting in Room 117 during extra help on Wednesday, October 10.  All candidates must attend.

 Senior Dance Participants: There is practice tonight and tomorrow night in the West Gym from 6-8 pm.
