Did one of your students, faculty or staff members do something wonderful this past month?  Please take a moment to recognize this act by nominating him/her for student of the month or faculty/staff member of the month.  We need nominations for students from 9, 10, 11 and 12 grade.  Please submit all forms in blue or black pen only!  Just as students deserve to be recognized, teachers and staff do as well.  Please take a moment to stop by any Assistant Principal’s Office to pick up a form to nominate a teacher or staff member who has had an impact on you in a positive way.  Please drop off all nominations to the 1 West Office.

Attention Seniors:  Parking Applications are now available in the 1 West, 2 West and 1 East Offices.  You must be a graduating senior with class D driver’s license, registration and insurance card to get a parking sticker.

Are you interested in local history?  Do you enjoy learning about our community and school?  If you answered yes to these questions, then the History Club is for you!  Our first History Club meeting is Wednesday, October 17, during Extra Help in the Rita Rech Museum of William Floyd History, which is located right here in the High School.  If you would like more information about the History Club or the Museum, see Ms. Devenny in the High School Library.

Attention Seniors:  Your unofficial transcript is available for your review on the student portal this week only.  Please take the time to review your transcript.  If you have any questions or concerns, please see your school counselor by Friday October 12.  Official transcripts with class rank should be available by the end of October.

Attention all Juniors and Seniors: On October 25, during 4th period, Columbia University will be making a presentation in the counseling Center.  If you are interested in attending, please come down to the Counseling Center to sign up.

 Bible Club will meet this Thursday, October 11 from 2:10 – 3:10 in Room 243.  All are welcome.

 Attention all Juniors and Seniors: The following colleges will be in the Senior Café today: St. John’s University from 10:15 – 11:15 and Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology from 10:45 – 12:45.  Tomorrow, Island Drafting and Technical Institute in Amityville will be in the Senior Café from 11:15 – 12:30.  Anyone interested may stop by and speak with the representative.

 After school math regents prep is a great opportunity to brush up on your skills for your upcoming regents in January and June.  Algebra 1 regents review will be in Room 415 today.

The Boys Cross Country team captured two more League 1 wins on Tuesday defeating Middle Country and Brentwood.  The team has a big race this Saturday to improve their chances of gaining a bid to compete in the State Qualifier meet later this month.

 Today marks the 30th anniversary of National Coming Out Day. We invite you to take a stand against the discrimination, violence, harassment, and bullying of LGBTQ people by coming out in support of safe spaces where they LIVE, LEARN, WORK, PLAY, and PRAY.   Every person who speaks up changes more hearts and minds, and creates new advocates for equality.  Ribbons will be handed out by our Gay-Straight Alliance members, and ribbons will also be available at the front desk in Guidance, so be sure to stop by on your way to a class to pick one up to show your support.  Supplies are limited.  We thank you for your support!

 Attention all GSA members: Since Pep Rally is on Friday, we will be having our meeting today during extra help in Room 255.  Also, please march with us at the Homecoming Parade on Saturday and show your Pride!!!

 The William Floyd Community Summit will be hosting its 2nd Annual Broadway Variety Show.  Auditions will be held at the Community Library on October 22 and 23 from 3-5pm and October 28 from 12-4pm.  All selections must be from a musical.  Singers, dancers and actors are all welcome to try out.
