The Environmental Science Club is making April Environmental Awareness Month. Are you a spring athlete? Did you know joggers can inhale 3 times more air pollution than walkers on the same route?
Attention all Sophomores: Are you interested in exploring a career in a mental health profession? The William Floyd High School CTE Department is excited to welcome its first cohort for the 2026-27 school year in our newest CTE Program: Mental Health Professions. This two-year NYS pilot program will introduce students to careers in social work, psychology and counseling. Through partnerships with local universities and businesses, students will gain real-world insight into the mental health field and learn directly from industry professionals. Seats are limited, so stop by the Counseling Office or 3 West today to pick up an application.
The National English Honor Society is eager to unlock this week's Word of the Week! The word this week is preposterous, which means completely ridiculous, as in: "The idea that the cafeteria ran out of pizza on purpose is preposterous!" The assignment, you ask? Try sneaking this word in a conversation with your English teacher!
Attention Varsity and JV cheerleaders: Anyone interested in joining the Unified Cheer team, please see the Advisor in room 236. Practices begin Monday, April 13th, after break.
Interested in Bible club? All are welcome to join us in room 169 every Monday from 2:15pm-3:15pm. Bring a bible if you have one, a notebook and a friend. Please be on time.
The next meeting of the WFHS Medical club will be on Monday, April 13th, at 2:20pm in the LGI. We will be welcoming Dr. Ron Jacobs from NMDP to discuss bone marrow donation medicine in preparation for our donor registry drive. Please be on time. Please see the Advisor with any questions.

Attention House of Delegates Members: Our April meeting will take place after spring break on Wednesday, April 15th, in the LGI. And just a reminder that plant sale forms and payment are due back to the Advisors in room 102 or room 417 by April 15th at 2:13pm.
Attention Seniors: The Gwendolyn M. Branch Memorial Scholarship is now available in the Counseling Center. This is available to students who plan to pursue a career in Social Work, Teaching or Psychology. Students must have a 2.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. The Roy Mack Sr. Scholarship is also now available in the Counseling Center. This scholarship is available to students who have participated each year in at least one high school team sport or club sport. Students must have a 2.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Please come down to the Counseling Center to pick up an application. The deadline to apply is April 17th. Don’t miss out on these two great opportunities!
Battle of the Classes will be April 17th. Ticket sales will begin on April 13th in the 12th grade café for Seniors and Juniors during their lunch period. All other tickets will be sold on April 14th and 15th during extra help in the auditorium for all students, until we are sold out. The cost will be $5.00, and you must have your ID. No exceptions.
Attention 11th and 12th Grade Students: The Digital SAT, the Scholastic Aptitude Test, will be administered at William Floyd High School on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 7:30am. The Digital SAT is given to 11th or 12th grade students and is typically required for admission to college. We encourage all juniors and seniors to sign up for the SAT. Please register online at CollegeBoard.org by Friday, April 17th. After April 17th, there will be a large late fee. The absolute last day to register online is Tuesday, April 21st. Please visit the Counseling Center with any questions.
Attention Seniors: Each year the Community Library recognizes one graduating senior with a $250 Amazon gift card. This award is for students who have been positively influenced by the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Library and who plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college during the 2026-2027 school year. Applications are now available in the Counseling Center and are due on April 30th
The Girls Track Team defeated Middle Country yesterday in dominant fashion by a score of 78-63. Great job girls!
