Today is an odd day.



Hispanic Heritage month is from September 15th to October 15th. Today we recognize Rigoberta Menchú. Rigoberta Menchú is a Guatemalan indigenous rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner. She is known for her work advocating for the rights of indigenous peoples in Guatemala and throughout Latin America, shining a light on the struggles they face.


Attention Seniors:  Your unofficial transcript is available for your review on the student portal. Please take the time to review your transcript. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your School Counselor by tomorrow, Friday, September 26th. Official transcripts with the class rank should be available in October. 


Attention Students with a Class D License:  You must have a parking permit to park your car in the South Lot.  Starting October 1st security will be checking permits, if you do not have a permit, you will NOT be allowed to park there anymore. If you need a parking permit, go to your AP office as soon as possible!


Congratulations to William Floyd's 2026 Chapter of SkillsUSA Executive Officers.  We are excited to see what this new leadership will accomplish.


All new and returning Science Honor Society Paperwork is due by today, Friday, September 26th. Late applications will not be accepted. Please turn all paperwork in to the Advisor in room 254. 


Attention all 10th and 11th grade students: Today is the last day to register for the Digital PSAT Exam being administered at William Floyd High School on Saturday, October 18th, at 7:30 am. This exam is taken by 10th and 11th grade students to help prepare for the SAT. Register by bringing $15 cash (exact change only) to the high school main office today, Friday, September 26th. We cannot accept any late payments.


The second meeting of the Muslim Students' Association will take place on Monday, September 29th, in room 304. All new and existing members are welcome. Reminder:  This meeting is in a new location - room 304


The WFHS Medical club, a professional learning community, will hold its next meeting on Monday, September 29th, at 2:20pm in the LGI. We will have a guest speaker from the public health team at Stony Brook Hospital. Please see the Advisor in room 245 with questions.


Current National Honor Society members will have a mandatory meeting on Monday, September 29th, after extra help in the library. All members must attend.


Are you interested in robots, coding, photography, graphic design, or computer aided design? If so then the William Floyd Robotics Club is looking for you. Come to room 229 on Tuesday, September 30th, from 2:15p-3:00p for information about our robotics team! All new members are welcome. 


Attention all Student Government new and old members:  The application deadline is being extended to Tuesday, September 30th. Come get your application from one of the Advisors in room 417 or 102 during extra help! 


It's not too late to join The Book Club! Whether you bring friends to read together or come by yourself to cultivate your own inner world, we have a place for you. The next meeting is after extra help on Wednesday, October 1st, in room 203. See the Advisor if you have questions.


National Honor Society Applications are available in the main office, guidance and online for any 10th - 12th grade students who have a GPA of 90 or better and meet other requirements. Applications are due October 17th.  Please see one of the Advisors in room 142 or 206 for more information.
