Today is an odd day.



In recognition of America’s 250th birthday, today we acknowledge American technology. From the laboratory to the skies, the United States has long been a global leader in world-changing technology. From Thomas Edison's first light bulb 1879, to the Wright brother's the first powered flight 1903, American ingenuity has made the impossible possible. From the earliest tools to the latest digital advancements, American ingenuity continues today through modern breakthroughs such as the Internet, GPS technology, and the personal computer which have shaped the modern world.


Attention all Seniors: On June 25th, the Senior Class of 2026 will be conducting its annual Graduation Elementary Walk-through. All Seniors wishing to participate in this event should sign-up using the online registration form. Look for the Elementary Graduation walkthrough flyers posted in the Senior Cafe, Library, Guidance, 1 East Office and throughout the building for further instructions. If you have any questions, please stop by the 1 East Office. Don’t miss out on this great tradition!


The National English Honor Society is here to share this week's Word of the Week. The word this week is “subside” meaning to become less strong or intense. You might hear this word used like this; “The loud cheering began to subside as the football game came to an end.” Your mission is to try to use this word when writing at school this week!


The next meeting of the Gaming Club will be today, Monday, May 18th, after extra help in the 9A-K cafe. We have many new games that we will be learning and playing. Make every effort to attend! See you there!


There is an Environmental Science Club meeting today, Monday, May 18th, in room 257 right after extra help. We will be planting in the North Lobby Garden beds, see you there. Please dress to be outside, all are welcome.


 The William Floyd Varsity Rockettes will be holding tryouts for the 2026-2027 season beginning today, Monday, May 18th through Friday, May 22nd. Tryouts will take place at William Floyd High School from 2:30pm-4:30pm, in the downstairs dance room located across from ROTC. Students who are interested should come dressed in sneakers and athletic wear, as well as have their hair up. Please refrain from wearing jewelry. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Advisors.


The last meeting of Book Club will be Wednesday, May 20th, in room 203. The librarian will be here to help us wave goodbye to the school year and hello to the summer.


Sets for Tourette's volleyball tournament will take place on Wednesday, May 20th, during extra help until 3:15pm in the West Gym. Students in all grades are invited to play or spectate. Teams can have up to six players and players can now sign up in room 206. The cost is $5 per player or $2 per spectator. 


The final Debate Club meeting will be this Thursday, May 21st, in room 118. If you are interested in being an officer next year, you must attend. We hope to see you there.


Attention Students: Time is running out to purchase your 2026 Yearbook! The absolute last day to buy a yearbook online is May 24th. The cost is $140. Supplies are running very low - so please don’t miss out! If you have any questions, please see one of the Advisors in 260 or room 228 during extra help.


Do you wanna rock? Then come to the Battle of the Bands Guitar Concert on Tuesday, May 26th, at 6:00pm. In the High School auditorium! The advanced guitar ensemble will be performing hit songs by Metallica, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Green Day, Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, and many, many more! The best part of it? Admission is FREE! So, mark your calendars... Tuesday, May 26th at 6:00pm. In the High School Auditorium - the Battle of the Bands Guitar Concert - Be there!
