Akomanga Tekau Ma Tahi (Hub 11)

Dear Parents/Whanau,

Happy New Year! We warmly welcome you to Akomanga Tekau Mā Tahi (Learning Hub 11), from teachers Alison Phillips, Rob Noble, Karishma Kumar, and Dale Mahlagwai (student teacher).

We have already had a great start to the term getting to know our amazing learners! Check out some of our examples of collaboration above.

LEARNING THIS TERM

We Are Awesome

Learning in Hub 11 this term is going to focus on our learners understanding their passions, strengths, and interests, and what they bring to our school community. We invite all learners to share their achievements, adventures, and aspirations this term with us as we continue to grow together.

EXCITING EVENTS THIS TERM

Swimming

This will be going ahead for Term One with our hub going on the following weeks:

Week 4: Tuesday February 26th, Wednesday February 27th, Thursday February 28th.

Week 5: Tuesday March 5th, Wednesday March 6th, Thursday March 7th

We require all swimming items to be clearly labelled including all uniform items, as things can easily be misplaced or accidentally taken when items are not labelled. Further information will be made available through the communication update.

Meet the Teacher Evening

We are holding a ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening in Hub 11 on Thursday February 21st, starting at 4:30pm. All welcome to attend!

REMINDERS

School Information

The Stonefields School App is a great place to receive all notifications and school information. Another place to find information is our school website. Link to website communication page.

Uniform

Please write your child’s name on everything they bring to school, including uniform, so it will be easier to return any lost items. The summer uniform consists of a short sleeve polo shirt, shorts for boys and skorts for girls. Shoes are black and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. This also includes a wide brimmed navy or black hat.

School Hats are compulsory in Term 1 and 4. Children without a school hat will be required to sit in a shady spot during PE and break times. Please ensure that your child comes to school with their school hat and sunblock that is already applied. If you would like your child to reapply sunblock during the day please make sure they bring some with them as we do not supply this.

Sickness

If your child is sick and has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, we would advise that they remain at home to recover, and to prevent other children from getting sick. Your support with this would be appreciated. Use the ‘Absentee’ tab on the School App to let us know your child is absent. Alternatively call the office on 527 7721 or email admin@stonefields.school.nz

School Hours

Learners are able to enter the Hub from 8:30am onwards, with our school day beginning at 8:55am and finishing at 3pm. Please note that teachers have professional development from 7:30am and will not be back in the hub until 8:45am every Thursday.

If your child arrives earlier we suggest you consider our Out of School Care programme which is run by an outside provider called Kelly Club. The programme runs everyday in the school hall before and after school. Please contact the office for more information.

Food & Waste

Stonefields School is an Enviro School and we aim to minimise the quantity of waste that we produce here. We encourage our students to keep food wrappers at home, and to keep food waste in their lunch boxes. Brain food is vital for children during their learning. Lollies and treats need to be left at home please. We appreciate your support with this.

Volunteers

Please feel free to pop in and have a chat if you would like to support us in the hub. We can discuss where you would be most invaluable.

Our doors are always open and we are very happy to have a chat before or after school. If you have any questions or concerns and need a longer time to meet with us, please feel free to contact us to make a scheduled time to connect.
