Hub 11, Term 3, Communication Update
Kia ora Parents/Whanau
Welcome to Term 3!
We are half-way through the year, and we have had a fantastic two terms so far. Some of the highlights from Term 2 have been the building of our future houses from cardboard. The thought and design which went into these were amazing! Many future architects in the making!

Community Notices
Please take the time to click on our community notices. This section holds information on what is going on in and around our community, outside of school activities. New notices have and has recently been added and the section is updated on a regular basis.
This term we are focusing on Sustainability of Water. We would like our students to understand and appreciate the value of water and hopefully, we can reduce water wastage in the long term as it is one of our most precious resources!
We will be looking into how we use water, where water comes from and where it goes, water conservation and pollution, and usage. To support this learning, we would love for you to share how much water is used at home (this could be an email with the total usage if you are comfortable in sharing this information) or providing copies of your water bill (without sharing any personal information).
What’s happening this Term
Kiwi Sport
This Term we are thrilled to have Kiwi Sport again, this time focusing on Orienteering. This will take place on Wednesdays for Hub 11 with learners attending 35-minute sessions each week. Starting Wednesday 31st July (week 2), this will run for six weeks, finishing Wednesday 4th September (week 7).
School Photos
During Term 3, we will be having our School Photos. The photos will take place on Monday 2nd September. Please ensure that the school uniform is correct and you are bringing your best smile.
Reminders
Sickness
If your child is sick and has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, we would advise that they remain at home for at least 48 hours in order to fully recover and to prevent other children from getting sick. Please also email the Hub teachers and office to advise them of your child’s absence. There are various ways to do this:
Your support with this is appreciated.
How to help at home
There are some great online platforms that reinforce the learning your child does at school. You can also find some ideas that don’t require digital technology here.
School Information
Just a reminder that the Stonefields School App is a great place to receive all notifications and school information. Another place to find information is our school website. Link to website communication page. Stonefields School also has a Facebook page for updates on events and activities within our school but please be aware that if you need to communicate with any of the Hub teachers, email is the method of contact.
Uniform
Please ensure all school items are named. This includes lunchbox, school bag, all clothing, hats, etc.
Lost items are regularly sent to the red lost property cupboard outside the Akomanga Koru, (previously the library). The winter uniform consists of a fleece jacket, short sleeve polo shirt, shorts for boys and skorts for girls OR trousers for boys and black tights for girls. Shoes are black and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. A wide-brimmed navy or black hat is now optional in Term 2 and 3.
School Hours
Learners are able to enter the Hub from 8:30am onwards, with our school day beginning at 9:00am and finishing at 3pm. Please note that teachers have professional development from 7:30am and will not be back in the Hub until 8:45am every Thursday. If your child arrives earlier we suggest you consider our Out of School Care programme which is run by an outside provider called Kelly Club. The programme runs every day in the school hall before and after school. Please contact the office for more information.
Should you need to contact any of the Hub teachers, please pop into the Hub for a chat, or email hub11teachers@stonefields.school.nz and one of us will get back to you within 48 hours.
