Akomanga Iwa (Hub 9)
Kia ora Akomanga Iwa Whānau,
We had a wonderful and exciting Term 3 in Akomanga Iwa. We can’t believe we only have 1 term left with this fantastic group of learners.
Well done to all our learners for an amazing term of Sustainable thinking. We have had lots of fun bringing science into our hub this term to find out about how we can use our energy more sustainably. We have been doing weekly workshops which include science experiments, creating sustainable houses and learning about energy through P.E. Well done!
Our learning for Term 4 concept is focused on the concept of Change. In the Yr4-6 we are focusing on ‘Change through Challenge’.
We will be challenging our ourselves to make a change in many ways. This could be challenging our personal best on the climbing wall at camp, becoming a leader to a group, being brave to try something new, challenging ourselves to a personal best on Athletics Day, or setting a new challenge as we transition into 2020.

Community Notices
Please take the time to click on our community notices. This section holds information on what is going on in and around our community, outside of school activities. New notices have and has recently been added and the section is updated on a regular basis.
We have lots of exciting events and opportunities coming up, including Year 5 and 6 Peter Snell Camp, Year 4 visit to Sonshine Ranch and sleepover, Athletics Day, and our fantastic Learner Achievement Celebration at the end of the Term 4.
Reminders
Year 5 and 6 Camp and Year 4 Activity Day and Sleepover
Our excitement is definitely building for our Education Outside the Classroom opportunities in Term 4. Please refer to the Year 5 and 6 Camp Website and Year 4 Activity Day and Sleepover Websites for more information and top tips.
School Uniforms
Please ensure all school items are named. This includes lunch boxes, school bag, all clothing, hats, etc.
Lost items are regularly sent to the red lost property cupboard outside the Akomanga Koru, (previously the library). A reminder that our uniform has black shoes and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. A wide-brimmed navy or black hat is now mandatory in Term 4.

A reminder that the Stonefields School App is a great place to receive all notifications and school information. Another place to find information is on our school website.
Stonefields School also has an official Facebook page for updates on events and activities within our school but please be aware that if you need to communicate with any of the Hub teachers, email is the best method of contact.
Kiwi Sport
This term we are thrilled to offer Kiwi Sport Gymnastics to our Year 4-6 cohort. This will take place on Tuesday mornings with learners attending 40-minute sessions each week. This will run for six weeks.
Food & Waste
Stonefields School is an Enviro School and we aim to minimise the quantity of waste that we produce here. Our students must keep food wrappers and waste in lunch boxes and take them home. After our Term 3 focus on sustainability, we are also encouraging reusable products as much as possible.. Brain food is vital for children during their learning. Lollies and treats need to be left at home, please. We appreciate your support with this.

As always, we love having your support within the hub. If you are available to offer your time in any of the following areas could you please let us know:

- Spelling testing
- Reading with our learners
- Laminating & cutting resources
We value any time that you can spare.
Our door is always open and we are happy to have a chat before or after school. If you have any questions or concerns and need a longer time to meet with us, please contact us to make a scheduled time to connect. Please note that we have our scheduled PLD meetings on Thursday mornings before school, so we are unable to meet during this time.
