Dear Parents/Whanau,
A warm welcome back to you all and a special welcome to our families who are new to Stonefields School. We are also delighted to welcome our new teacher Ms Gardener to Hub 8. We are excited to hit the ground running with authentic and fun learning for our tamariki.
Our learners have grown in confidence and built their knowledge in our digital learning space. They are practising our Kawa of Care and are aware of our Cybersmart traffic light system.
Our Learners have been learning to reflect on their progressions and independently upload their evidence to school talk, which they are using to access their calendar each morning to set them up for success. They are aware of using the iPad as a learning tool in conjunction with other resources such as their books, whiteboards and other learning resources.

Please read this link for further information about Stonefields School
Community Notices
Please take the time to click on our community notices. This section holds information on what is going on in and around our community, outside of school activities. New notices have and has recently been added and the section is updated on a regular basis.
Conceptual Learning
Survivor Day was an engaging experience to hook us into our concept about making connections between ourselves, and others to understand, my place in the world, and how we can contribute to the community. Please see the @StonefieldsSch twitter page We are forming tribes and working together to share new skills and knowledge across the hub 7 & 8. We are creating a sense of unity and purpose.
Kiwi Sport
This term Hub 7 and 8 will be participating in weekly Taekwondo lessons. Hub 7 will be on Wednesday and Hub 8 will have their lessons on Thursday. Please note that our Kiwisport programme will be running for the next six weeks. As physical education is an important part of our curriculum, we encourage all learners to participate.
Scooter Training
On Tuesday 28th May and Thursday 30th May learners will be participating in a scooter skills session as part of the Travel Wise programme. Learners will be required to bring their own scooter and helmet to school. More information and a permission slip will be sent closer to the time.
Junior School Sleepover
We are looking forward to the Junior Sleepover on Thursday 9th May. Please ensure you have completed the signup sheet that was sent to you in the sleepover communication.
Learner Led Conferences
This will be happening on Wednesday 5th June. Sessions will run for two half-hour blocks between 2pm and 7.30pm. We will be running two workshops between Hub 7 & 8.
These workshops are designed to support you with how you can help your child at home with Writing and Maths, and look at how you can determine what their next steps are.
You don’t need to sign up for these workshops, you are welcome to just pop in.
Please see the school’s communication update for more information closer to the time.
General Housekeeping
Reading Books
Children will be given reading books each week and we expect them to read at home every day. All books need to be returned each week. Please ensure your child bring their book bag to school each day. Readers will not go home unless they are in a book bag. You may purchase book bags from the office.
Lateness
Please make sure your child is at school before 8.55am (when the bell goes) to ensure they are ready for the start of their school day. It is preferable that they arrive at 8.45am to sort out their things and then get ready for learning. If you would like to speak to a teacher regarding your child’s learning, please email to arrange a time to meet.. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
School Supervision
Our learning day starts at 8.55am, our hub doors open at 8.30am. When learners arrive in the morning we encourage them to organise themselves to be ready for learning. This involves hanging up their bags and bringing in their book bags. If learners arrive before 8.30am they can be booked into Kelly Club. Kelly Club provides both before and after school care. Please contact Celia Mackinven stonefields@kellyclub.co.nz should you require before and after school care.
Sickness
If your child is sick, for example; contagious coughing, coloured mucus from the nose, high temperatures, has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, please keep them home so other children in the hub and teachers do not get sick. We prefer that the children stay at home for 48 hours after their sickness so the bugs cannot be passed on.
