Pōwhiri Welcome to new families and Staff

The start of term pōwhiri held on Monday 4th February was a wonderful and empowering way to commence our first term of the year. We are always very grateful to the support and hospitality that Kaumatua Tautoko, or Papa Big as he is known to us, gives through this rich cultural welcome celebration and blessing. We also extend thanks to Virginia who also helped to make the pōwhiri so special.

Family Fun & Meet the Teachers - Thursday 21st February

On Thursday 21st February we invite you to come and meet your child/ren's hub Teachers. The evening is planned to be an opportunity for you to get to know your child's teachers and other families in the hub, hear about the learning planned for the term and answer any questions you may have. Some fun activities have been designed to get to know our families and whānau so be prepared to join in!

There are two sessions planned which will allow for parents who need to visit different hubs the opportunity to do so.

  • The first session will start at 4.30pm - 5.15pm
  • The second session will start at 5.30 - 6.15pm

Following the meet and greet there will be games and activities for all to enjoy on the field.

All families are welcome to bring along a picnic and there will also be a selection of food trucks and a coffee truck available to purchase from.

2019 Digital Tools information sessions for parents

For parents of learners who are new to chromebooks, information sessions are being facilitated to enable you to be Cyber Smart just like your children. In order for your child's device to be able to go home, parents must attend Module 1. We will be running Module 1 during our Meet the teacher evening on Thursday 21st February. Please attend a session at either 4pm or 5pm in Hub 3 (Top of the red staircase).

Once your child has completed their Cyber Smart Kawa of Care training and you have completed Module 1, the device will be able to go between school and home if you so desire.

Items of Note

Sun Safety

We are keen to work with you to ensure your children are sun safe at School. Further to Mondays communication we would like to remind all parents and learners that sun hats are compulsory in Terms 1 and 4 we encourage learners to apply sunblock before coming to School. Sunhat's can be purchased on line through the school website - click the Argyle on line sales button on the home page or pop into the office, as we do try to keep a stock of hats on site for sale. Sunhat's are $12.50 each. Please name your hats and talk to your child(ren) about the importance of wearing it when playing outside. Please click here to go to the Sunsmart website for further advise and guidance.

Learner Safety

Safety of our learners is always paramount and we would like to stress, at the beginning of this school year, how important it is for all of our community to be vigilant and responsible whilst driving and parking, particularly in areas of high foot traffic, such as schools.

Before and after school is a busy time. Parking rules help to protect children and keep them safe. Parking at least 400m away from school and walking to the gates reduces the risks of crashes and injuries.

Should you wish to sign up to receive the safe streets newsletters, please do so by reading a timely announcement from Auckland Transport which can be viewed here.

School App

Don't forget to amend your subscriptions to reflect the correct hub for your child. If you do not yet have the school app please download from the App or Play Store. Preschool Morning Update

We’d like to welcome back any parents/caregivers with children under 5! A new crop of enthusiastic Year 8's will lead the way on Friday afternoons, starting in week 4 (Friday 1st March) until the end of the year. We’ve had to swap the time from last year, so we will now be starting at 2pm. The venue is the new library situated in Hub 3 (up the red stairs, far right). We will again have socialisation/welcome time for the first 10 minutes and then begin the session. Clear up will commence at 2:50pm - 3pm. No need to book, just pop in and we will be there to greet you!
