Kia ora Parents and Whānau,
Welcome to the last term of 2019!
WOW! We are almost at the end of the year and we have had some incredible experiences with our wonderful learners. Each and every student should be so proud of how far they’ve stretched themselves in their learning. Some of the fantastic highlights from Term 3 have been based on Water Sustainability. We have some serious science enthusiasts in the making!

What’s happening this Term?
This Term we are focusing on …...‘Challenges through change’
As our learners come to the end of this year, there are always challenges to overcome and we want to make transitions and new events as accessible as possible for everyone. As always, we want our learners to have the tools to overcome any challenges and the growth mindset to acknowledge that change can be difficult but not a barrier. We will also be focussing on health and wellbeing, and how this impacts on our abilities to cope with change.
Kiwi Sport
Another term of Kiwi Sport, this time focusing on Gymnastics. This will take place on Thursdays for Hub 11 with learners attending 35-minute sessions each week. Starting Thursday 24th October (week 2), this will run for six sessions, finishing Thursday 28th November.
Athletics Day
Friday 15th November - There will be more information about this at the beginning of Term 4.
Learner Achievement Celebration
Tuesday 17th December at the Auckland Netball Centre. It will soon be that exciting time of year again when we celebrate our wonderful learner’s achievements. There are already lots of plans in place to make this evening as exciting and inspirational as always and we hope to see you all there.
Reminders
Uniform
Please ensure all school items are named. This includes lunchbox, school bag, all clothing, hats, etc.
Lost items are regularly sent to the red lost property cupboard outside the Akomanga Koru, (previously the library). The summer uniform consists of a short-sleeve polo shirt, shorts for boys and skorts for girls. Shoes are black and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. This also includes a wide-brimmed navy or black hat.
School Hats are compulsory this Term. Children without a school hat will be required to sit in a shady spot during PE and break times. Please ensure that your child comes to school with their school hat and sunblock that is already applied. If you would like your child to reapply sunblock during the day please make sure they bring some with them as we do not supply this.
Sickness
If your child is sick and has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, we would advise that they remain at home for at least 48 hours in order to fully recover and to prevent other children from getting sick. Please also email the hub teachers and office to advise them of your child’s absence. There are various ways to do this:
Through the school App - see details below on our App.
Via email on aarc@stonefields.school.nz & hub11teachers@stonefields.school.nz
Your support with this is appreciated.
How to help at home
There are some great online platforms that reinforce the learning your child does at school. You can also find some ideas that don’t require digital technology here.
School Information
A reminder that the Stonefields School App is a great place to receive all notifications and school information. Another place to find information is on our school website.
Stonefields also has an official Facebook page for updates on events and activities within our school but please be aware that if you need to communicate with any of the Hub teachers, email is the best method of contact.
School Hours
Learners are able to enter the Hub from 8:30am onwards, with our school day beginning at 9:00am and finishing at 3pm. Please note that teachers have professional development from 7:30am and will not be back in the hub until 8:45am every Thursday. If your child arrives earlier we suggest you consider our Before School Care programme which is run by an outside provider called Kelly Club.
The programme runs every day in the school hall before and after school. For more information, click here.
Should you need to contact any of the hub teachers, please pop into the hub for a chat, or email hub11teachers@stonefields.school.nz and one of us will get back to you within 48 hours.
Ngā mihi nui,
