With camp coming up next term (17-21 June), we are well and truly into the final stages of planning.
Could you please complete the following form on behalf of your child, ensuring that all information is as clear as possible. You will be able to update this information should circumstances change.
You'll notice we've streamlined this process. The information that used to be gathered across three different forms is now all found in the link above.
The learners themselves will also need to complete this form to accept the terms of their attendance at camp.
If you know that your child will be unable to attend camp, could you please inform us as soon as possible by completing this form.
Once we have final numbers, we will be able to confirm the number of buses we need, and most importantly, how many parent helpers we need.
Thank you for your ongoing support - we cannot wait!
LH5 teachers
Thank you to those of you that have already registered your interest in joining us at Camp Bentzon (June 17-21).
Camp is always an incredible experience for adults and learner alike and with so many water activities, we'll require a large number of adult help to make camp a success.
Could you be one of them?
If you are keen to offer your services as a parent helper, could you please complete this form (even if you have already advised us of your desire to assist).
Thank you for your support,
Sarah, Mel, Miriam and Bob
Kia ora Parents and Caregivers of our wonderful Akomanga Rima learners,
Happy New Year, and welcome to Term One of 2019! We could not be happier to be your child’s teachers this year, and have enjoyed the opportunity to meet those of you who have been able to pop in over the last two weeks.
Our learners have made a fantastic start to the year and we’re thoroughly enjoying having them in the hub. Together we’ve looked at the concept of leadership, which will continue to be our key learning focus for the term. You may even like to discuss with your child the areas in which they would like to make a contribution, both to the hub and to the school, over the dinner table.
As we continue into the term, we will also be testing our learners to help us best meet their needs through teaching workshops. Details of these assessments will be communicated to our learners closer to the time and will be loaded to SchoolTalk.
As always, our door is always open and we look forward to meeting and reconnecting with many of you as the weeks go on.
EXCITING EVENTS THIS TERM
Technology at Selwyn College
This year we are lucky enough to have gained a spot at Selwyn College for our technology classes. This means that every Friday all of our learners will be able to go and experience new types of learning including hard materials, electronics and design.
Learners will come to Stonefields ready for a normal school day and will return at 10.50am
Swimming
This will be happening for Term One with our hub going on the following weeks:
Week 4: Tuesday February 26th, Wednesday February 27th, Thursday February 28th.
Week 5: Tuesday March 5th, Wednesday March 6th, Thursday March 7th
We require all swimming items to be clearly labelled including all uniform items, as things can easily be misplaced or accidentally picked up when items are not labelled. Further information will be made available through the communication update.
Meet the Teacher Evening
We are holding a ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening in Hub 5 on Thursday February 21st, starting at 4:30pm. We’ll be introducing ourselves and answering any questions you might have about the school (and intermediate years) here at Stonefields. The evening will be followed by a picnic on the field. We’d love to have you along.

School Information
Please download the Stonefields School App and use this to keep up to date with all major communication such as upcoming events. Another place to find information is the school website. Please use the link 'website communication' button.
Camp Bentzon 2019
We’re excited to share our camp dates for 2019; 17 - 21 June. As always, we’ll require a fabulous parent team to support our learners and would love it if you’d consider these dates when planning the year ahead. We’re currently in the planning process and will be in touch with more details closer to the time.
Cellphones at School
Please remind your child that if they are taking cellphones to school that they need to hand them in at the start of the day to be locked away safely until the end of school.
Sickness
If your child is sick and has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, we would advise that they remain at home to recover, and to prevent other children from getting sick. Your support with this would be appreciated. Use the ‘Absentee’ tab on the School App to let us know your child is absent. Alternatively call the office on 527 7721 or email admin@stonefields.school.nz
Uniform
Please write your child’s name on everything they bring to school, including uniform items. This will make it easier to return any lost items. The summer uniform consists of a short sleeve polo shirt, shorts for boys and skorts for girls. Shoes are black and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. This also includes a wide brimmed navy or black hat.
School Hats are compulsory in Term 1 and 4. Children without a school hat will be required to sit in a shady spot during PE and break times. Please ensure that your child comes to school with their school hat and sunblock that is already applied. If you would like your child to reapply sunblock during the day please make sure they bring some with them as we do not supply this.
School Hours
Learners are able to enter the Hub from 8:30am onwards, with our school day beginning at 8:55am and finishing at 3pm.
Please note that teachers have professional development every Thursday from 7:30am and will not be back in the hub until 8:45am. If your child arrives earlier we suggest you consider our Out of School Care programme, which is run by an outside provider called Kelly Club. The programme runs everyday in the school hall before and after school. Please contact the office for more information.
Food & Waste
Stonefields School is an Enviro School and we aim to minimise the quantity of waste that we produce here. We encourage our students to keep food wrappers at home, and to keep food waste in their lunch boxes. Brain food is vital for children during their learning. Lollies and treats need to be left at home please. We appreciate your support with this.
Volunteers
Please feel free to pop in and have a chat if you would like to support us in the hub. We can discuss where you would be most invaluable.
Our doors are always open and we are very happy to have a chat before or after school. If you have any questions or concerns and need a longer time to meet with us, please feel free to contact us to make a scheduled time to connect.
