Update 7 - 16th May 2019

2019 Board of Trustee Elections
We need people to step forward for our school.
Nominate yourself or someone you know to stand for election.

Parents who's children were registered with us prior to the 8th May should now have received information and a nomination form for the upcoming Board of Trustee elections. If you did not receive this please let the office know. Copies of the nomination form are also available at the office should you need another one.

The call for nominations closes on 24th May and any received by the returning officer (CES) after 12 noon on this date will not be accepted. If you wish to nominate yourself or another person, the easiest way to do so is through the portal mentioned in the information leaflet. Click here for the parent guide to submitting your nomination.
If posting your nomination form, please ensure that this is done in plenty of time to allow for the reduction in delivery days which is now only 3 days per week. Candidates are also encouraged to submit a profile.

We are looking for 5 parent elected representatives to stand and will only go to an election if more than 5 applications are received. Click here for the parent guide to submitting your nomination.

Please click here for further details on the election process and being a board member. We look forward to seeing your nominations come through.

Message from the Board of Trustees | Teacher Strike Action - Wednesday 29th May 2019
Kia Ora Whānau, Parents & Caregivers,

At a round of meetings during 6-10 May 2019, NZEI Te Rui Roa and PPTA members voted overwhelmingly to hold joint strike action with secondary teachers in the form of a full day strike on Wednesday 29th May 2019.

The Board and School Management are working through the various scenarios, considerations and impacts to all those involved, and we will keep you all updated as further information comes to hand and as decisions are made. At this stage based on our previous experience with full day strikes, it is highly likely that the school will be closed for learning on this day but as noted above, a decision is yet to be made.

We wanted to give our community as much notice as possible, as you may have to make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on the day of the strike as per previous strike action.

Thank you for your understanding and please don’t hesitate to contact us via board@stonefields.school.nz if you have any queries relating to this.

Ngā mihi nui,
Matt Evans
Chairperson
Stonefields School Board of Trustees

Important Sign in Procedure
A reminder that if you need to be on the school site as an adult helper or are coming into the hubs to drop something off, please remember to sign in at the office. In the event of an emergency it is important we know who is on the school site at any time. It is also important to remind you that should your child have an appointment it is essential that they are signed in and out on the tablet in the school office. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Out of Zone Siblings
Whilst the school does not take out of zone students, we do try, where possible, to allow out of zone new entrant siblings of currently enrolled children to be at school together. Each year, the Board of Trustees looks at the current and predicted roll and determines if the school is in a position to continue to make this exception.

If you are a current parent of the school and have an out of zone pre-schooler due to start primary school during 2020, you will need to write to the Board of Trustees in order to ask if they will consider holding a ballot for new entrant siblings of currently enrolled children.
The Board can then deliberate on this at their next meeting on Wednesday 19 June 2019
All correspondence will be due to the school by Wednesday 11 June to be included in the Board meeting material for their consideration.
If a resolution is made for a ballot to go ahead, all known families in this situation will be notified of the application process.
Please send your letters of request to the Board secretary, Ellie Bramwell ellie@stonefields.school.nz

Sport
Tamaki Cluster Football Tournament
We had a fun-filled day at the Tamaki Football tournament yesterday with 98 of our Yr 3 - 8 learners, including Hub 4, taking part. Our teams brought their best together on the field resulting in fantastic performances during games. Many of our girls were playing for the first time and their teams went from strength to strength with every game. Congratulations to the teams who won their grades; the Yr 3/4 Boys, the Yr 5/6 Boys and the Yr 7/8 Boys, who didn't concede a single goal in the tournament. Our Yr 5/6 Girls finished with a tie in second place - ka pai!
As always, we would like to thank our whānau for their help and support on the day.

We will channel all inter-school sports (Tamaki Cluster, Eastern Zones etc) event communication through this group, for example, if an event is called off due to poor weather. For all school-wide sport, for example, cross country, we will continue to communicate this to all app subscribers.
