Hub 9, Term 3, Communication Update
Kia Ora,
Thank you so much for making our year so far a great one with lots of amazing memories! We are excited to move into the next part of our journey continually bringing our best together.
Term Three Concept - Sustainability - Our choices have an impact - what are we going to do about it?
Our learning for Term 3 concept is focused on the concept of sustainability, specifically on resources and the impact we can have on our environment. We are wanting to look at running scientific investigations involving energy with our whanau islands.
The big questions are:
Whole School Communication

Reminders
School Uniforms
Please ensure all school items are named. This includes lunchboxes, school bag, all clothing, hats, etc.
Lost items are regularly sent to the red lost property cupboard outside the Akomanga Koru, (previously the library). The summer uniform consists of a short sleeve polo shirt, shorts for boys and skorts for girls. Shoes are black and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. A wide-brimmed navy or black hat is optional in Term 3 but strongly encouraged.
School Photos
In Term 3 we will be having our School Photos. The photos will take place on Monday 2nd September. Please ensure that school uniform is correct and you are bringing your best smile.
Kiwi Sport
This Term we are thrilled to offer Kiwi Sport Orienteering to our Year 4-6 cohort. This will take place on Tuesday mornings with learners attending 40-minute sessions each week. This will run for six weeks.
Food & Waste
With our concept topic of The War on Waste, we are encouraging the learner to think differently about their lunches and how they are trying to minimise their waste. Stonefields School is an Enviro School and we aim to minimise the quantity of waste that we produce here. We encourage our students to keep food wrappers at home and to keep food waste in their lunch boxes. Brain food is vital for children during their learning. Lollies and treats need to be left at home, please. We appreciate your support with this.
Volunteers
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who have helped out last term. The learners loved reading and learning with you. We are looking for a few more helpers to really help create a shift with our learners and their learning. If you are available to offer your time in any of the following areas could you please let us know:
We value any time that you can spare.
Our door is always open and we are happy to have a chat before or after school. If you have any questions or concerns and need a longer time to meet with us, please contact us to make a scheduled time to connect. Please note that we have our scheduled PLD meetings on Thursday mornings before school, so we are unable to meet during this time.
Kind regards,
Akomanga Iwa Teachers
