Dear Parents/Whanau,
Welcome to Term 2!
We have had such a fantastic term already working with our amazing learners. Our highlights from Term 1 include learning about each student and what makes them truly awesome, swimming (which was such a hit!), and cross-hub breakthrough on Fridays where students have had the opportunity to experience a choice of sports, drama, environment, art, or design & technology with a mix of teachers. As we enter term 2, we are continuing to think of exciting and engaging opportunities across the Year 4-6 team.
This term we are all focusing on the concept of Community. Our students are being immersed in an aspect of the community so they can understand what issues we face in our community and how they can make an impact. As we focus on contributing, participating, and citizenship, students will get 1-2 sessions each week working with different teachers.

Community Notices
Please take the time to click on our community notices. This section holds information on what is going on in and around our community, outside of school activities. New notices have and has recently been added and the section is updated on a regular basis.
Exciting Events This Term
Learner Led Conferences (LLCs)
We have Learner-Led Conferences on Wednesday 5th June, starting at 2pm (Week 6).
All families are welcome and school will be finishing earlier that day (1:30pm).
Please keep an eye on the Communication Update for further information.
Cross County
Cross country is taking place on Friday 28th June! We will start training in the weeks leading up to the event. Learners will need to bring in appropriate running footwear and gear and time will be provided for them to get changed etc. More information about the training and cross country event will go out shortly.
Kiwi Sport
This term we are thrilled to offer Kiwi Sport Taekwondo to our Year 4-6 cohort. This will take place on Wednesdays for Hub 11 with learners attending 35-minute sessions each week. Starting Wednesday 8th May, this will run for six weeks, finishing Wednesday 12th June.
Reminders
How to help at home
There are some great online platforms that reinforce the learning your child does at school. You can also find some ideas that don’t require digital technology here.
School Information
Just a reminder that the Stonefields School App is a great place to receive all notifications and school information. Another place to find information is our school website. Link to website communication page. Stonefields also has a Facebook page for updates on events and activities within our school but please be aware that if you need to communicate with any of the Hub teachers, email is the method of contact.
Sickness
If your child is sick and has been vomiting or had diarrhoea, we would advise that they remain at home to recover, and to prevent other children from getting sick. Your support with this would be appreciated.
Uniform
Please ensure all school items are named. This includes lunchbox, school bag, all clothing, hats, etc.
Lost items are regularly sent to the red lost property cupboard outside the Akomanga Koru, (previously the library). The summer uniform consists of a short sleeve polo shirt, shorts for boys and skorts for girls. Shoes are black and hair accessories are to be in our school colours. A wide-brimmed navy or black hat is now optional in Term 2 and 3.
School Hours
Learners are able to enter the Hub from 8:30am onwards, with our school day beginning at 9:00am and finishing at 3pm. Please note that teachers have professional development from 7:30am and will not be back in the hub until 8:45am every Thursday. If your child arrives earlier we suggest you consider our Out of School Care programme which is run by an outside provider called Kelly Club. The programme runs every day in the school hall before and after school. Please contact the office for more information.
