Board of Trustees | 2019 Elections | Voting

Nominations for the 2019 elections have closed and we are fortunate enough to have 10 approved candidates to go to an election.

Our returning officer (CES) will be sending out voting papers in the post for our parent community to complete in order to vote for the five parents you wish to elect as your Board of Trustee representatives.

Next Steps:

- You will receive your voting papers in the post from Wednesday 29th May. If not received by Saturday 1st June please let the school office know asap.

- Votes must be cast and returned to CES in the mail or handed into the school office by 12 noon on 7th June.

Only postal votes received with postal dates before noon on 7th June will be counted as valid.

Any votes mailed or handed into the office MUST be in the envelope provided to be valid.

Only one voting paper per envelope.

- CES will open and examine all voting papers, validate them and count the votes.

- As soon as the election results are known CES will liaise with the school so that information can be displayed.

- The newly elected board will take office on Friday 14th June.

School Supervision

Hub doors open at 8.30am. Teachers are not able to actively supervise learners prior to 8.30am. Should learners need to arrive at school before 8.30am they will need to be booked into Kelly Club. Kelly Club provides both before and after school care. Email to make a booking.

Payments through Kindo

Did you know, for your convenience, you can obtain your receipt directly from Kindo?

Simply log into Kindo, go to "My Orders" and e-mail the receipt to yourself.

If it is a donation receipt, the "Formal Donation Receipt" that is accepted by IRD will be an attachment.

Learner-Led Conference

A reminder that Learner-Led Conferences take place on Wednesday 5th June.

School will be closing at 1.30 pm ready for the Learner Led Conferences to start at 2.00pm.

If you are able to collect your children at 1:30 pm from School you are welcome to do so. Kelly Club will open early due to early school finish.

Hub Koru:

Due to the set up being slightly different for Hub Koru learners, you will have received an email on Friday 17th May with more information and the unique codes for booking your preferred time.

The Learner Led Conferences (LLCs) provide an authentic opportunity for children to take ownership and responsibility to showcase what they are learning, share how they are going and what their next learning steps are.

A conference can last around 45 minutes to an hour. Your child will lead the conference and share their learning, evidence of their achievements and the types of learning experiences they are involved in at School.

Lunn Avenue Store Promotions

When: Friday 28th June 2019

    • Junior Disco |Yr 0- 3| 5:30pm - 6:45pm
    • Senior Disco |Yr 4-8| 7:15pm - 8:45pm

Dressing up is optional, just put on your dancing shoes and join us for a night of fun.

This year, we will be running a cashless event. We have various disco packages available for purchase through our online shop, ranging between $8 - $15.

There will be no cash sales prior. Sales close at midnight on Friday 21st June 2019.

An event band will be handed out in the Hubs on Friday 28th June to all disco-goers. Make sure you bring your ticket to the disco to claim your items purchased.

We ask that children are dropped off at the hall door from where they will be supervised by teachers and volunteers.

There will be a parent mix and mingle in Hub 2 for all parents (and siblings) that would like to stay for the duration of the disco. We have set up an option to purchase pizza to enjoy at the mix and mingle through the online shop and refreshments will be available.

Mention Stonefields School at the till when paying for your items and we earn points towards materials.

Please note the disco is only open to learners who attend Stonefields School.

Staff News

Hub 5

We welcome Hope Griffin who will be joining the Hub 5 team from the start of Term 3. Hope joins us from the United Kingdom. She brings with her experience within the Google platform, Digital literacies, and strong science background. She is highly adaptable and motivated and is passionate not only in teaching learners but also mentoring and supporting teachers new to the profession.

We would like to take this opportunity in wishing Mel all the very best as she begins her journey of motherhood.

Hub 1

During Term 2, Ashleigh will be taking a step back from her mornings only teaching into a volunteer position while she continues to recover from a concussion injury.

We welcome Libby Patterson who will be working alongside Lisa Gower in a job share position. Lisa works a full day on a Monday - Wednesday with Libby working full day on a Thursday and Friday.

Libby joins us from Meadowbank Primary where she taught in a collaborative setting, prior to that she taught overseas in the UK for 2 years. Libby has a passion for the arts and PE.

This term, the learners in Hub 10,12 and Hub 5 have been working hard during ‘ET’ (Exploring Through) producing items and activities to sell at their Market Days.

They hope to raise money for hub activities while increasing awareness of financial literacy by extending their knowledge of income, expenses, and budgeting.

This will be a chance for all learners to buy products and enjoy what is on offer.

We would greatly appreciate your support in allowing your child to bring in a small amount of money to spend on the above dates.

Sport

Eastern Zones Year 8 Boys Football Tournament

Well done to our boys who took part in the Eastern Zones Football Tournament today. They certainly revelled in the challenge of playing against quality opposition.

We are extremely proud of their high level of respect both on and off the field. After some tight and tough games, we finished our day with an emphatic win!

Netball

The netball season is in full swing and it's great to see all the teams out practising and playing up at the netball centre! Well done to Year 4 Team Purple who have won both their grading games, 6-3 win against Pt England and 2-0 against Glendowie. The grading games have been a success and we are looking forward to hearing more great results

Stonefields School World Cup Day

A reminder of the Stonefields School World Cup Day on Friday 7th June.

Need to know:

Learners will be placed in a team for the day. We are encouraging all learners to dress in the colours of their team. Learners will be advised by their Hub teachers what team (country) they are "representing"

Lots of activities will be physical so learners need to wear trainers.

You are more than welcome to come and watch this exciting event take place.

    • Kick Off: 11:30am
    • Half Time (lunch) 12:50pm - 1:40pm
    • Final Whistle: 2:50pm

Should the event be postponed due to the weather on Friday 7th June, this will be communicated via the School app. The "save date" for the event is Friday 14th June 2019.
