Upon the Head of the Goat

Piri was just a young girl. Her family lived in Hungary and her Babi (grandma) lived over the border in Ukraine. This book is a memoir of her experiences from 1939-1944 when her country eventually became occupied by the Germany during World War II. Unlike most memoirs about this time in history, Piri tells what life was like for her before she was sent to a concentration camp. Despite the odd title, this book is wonderful. If you enjoyed reading Anne Frank's diary, then you should definitely read Upon the Head of the Goat by Aranka Siegal.
