Winner of the Coretta Scott King award in 2001, Miracle's Boys by Jaqueline Woodson is the story of three African American brothers growing up in Harlem. Told from the perspective of the youngest brother, 13-year old Lafayette has recently lost his mother and he was the one that found her dead. His oldest brother, Ty'ree, has put off college and other opportunities to raise him and his recently turned deliquent brother, Charlie. This realistic fiction title will take you to a world far beyond the norms of Norman, OK, but will still speak to the dynamics of family and what that means.
