Ever want to know how to yodel? Do you know what a Squeezal is? What are the rules of Bluegrass? Learn all of this and much more in The Long Gone Lonesome History of Country Music by Bret Bertholf.

Bret Bertholf has created an entertaining, yet informative history of Country Music. While chronicling the progression of country music, the book throws in lots of other fun facts. I particularly liked The Big List of Country Names. First, you find your first initial (mine is T) and then the corresponding nickname (Weenus). Then, you repeat for your last name (W=Moonshine). So my country nickname would be Weenus Moonshine. There are lists of Country Pets and Country Vee-Hickles. However, the illustrations make this title great. With caricuture type pictures of many of the country music greats, this would be a great title to share with a grandparent that loves country music.
