The House of Scorpions by Nancy Farmer has 3 medals on the cover. Lots of awards generally mean a lot of people thought this was a really good book. However, the cover really turned me off. Scorpions, ewwwww. So, I was a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Even though it is 380 pages, I read it in just a few days.

Matt lives in a fictitious place called Opium that is between the United States and Mexico. Matt is a clone of one of the most powerful men in the world.
