April was state testing month, and our students did a fantastic job of remaining focused and trying their best on the tests.
We held our final Coffee with the Counselor meeting, and parents were able to converse over coffee and a variety of breakfast items.
The College and Career Center hosted a workshop for students to assist them with enrollment in Palomar College for next year.
Students had the opportunity to visit Mira Costa College for a tour of their campus and to learn about the various programs offered.
We ended the month with a visit to Job Corp where interested students were able to visit the facilities and learn more about the many opportunities available to them after high school.
A group of lucky teachers had the opportunity to attend the CCEA Conference and celebrate all of the wonderful things taking place in alternative education.
Our guidance team and PBIS team continued to meet to develop Tiers 2 and 3 intervention supports for students and to address our school-wide goals for improving attendance, engagement, and motivation, while reinforcing positive behavior and supporting students in the best way possible.

For April, we held our final Cafecito with the Principal of the school year with our amazing group of moms. During this special gathering, we went over some important final topics, including graduation, student credits, and our upcoming end-of-year celebrations.
It was not only an informative morning, but also a delicious one—our wonderful moms brought tamales, burritos, fresh ceviche, and homemade muffins to enjoy alongside our Cafecito. The room was filled with warmth, joy, and gratitude.
The moms shared how happy they’ve been this year and how welcomed they felt by the staff here at Alta Vista. A special shoutout was given to our very own Principal, Dr. Miller, for always being approachable, kind, and open to listening. They appreciated the positive changes and great opportunities he’s helped bring to our school.
I honestly can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. I feel incredibly grateful to have shared these cafecitos with such a special group of moms. They showed up, supported their students and our school, and contributed thoughtful ideas that truly helped make Alta Vista a better place.
We are so blessed to have such a strong, loving community. Thank you to all our Alta Vista families for your support this year—we couldn't have done it without you! 💛
