We kicked off October with Senior Portraits.
Students campus wide participated in an Email Workshop where they either refreshed their skills or learned some Email skills and shortcuts.
If you need any assistance with your email, please feel free to reach out to us.
The College & Career Email Challenge is on! At random times, an email was sent out; the first student to respond received a gift card. Everyone who responded was entered into a weekly opportunity drawing at Friday’s kickout.
Check those emails for your opportunity to win!
We hosted our first CSAC Meeting of the school year. It was a great success. Thank you to all of the students, parents, and community members who attended!
Our clubs and activities are thriving! We are seeing great student participation.

I can hardly believe we’re already approaching the end of October! It has been an incredibly successful and exciting month here at Alta Vista High School, and I’m so proud of everything our school community has accomplished.
We kicked off the month with our CSAC meeting, where we welcomed parents, staff, and students. It was heartwarming to hear from both parents and students about how much they are thriving and enjoying being part of our school. We were also excited to have some new families join us that evening — such a meaningful moment for our community. During the meeting, we discussed how we are managing our budget and shared some new and exciting initiatives coming to Alta Vista.
Following that, we hosted our first Tuesday Night Family Event, where we had a fun-filled night of Lotería! There were great prizes, including scented candles, alcancías, traditional lotería games, and goodie bags filled with candy. A special thank you to our Culinary Class and Mrs. Penney for baking delicious Pumpkin Snickerdoodle cookies — they were a huge hit!
We also held our monthly Coffee With the Principal, which was another fantastic opportunity to connect with families. We welcomed new parents, and returning parents shared inspiring stories about how their students are now attending community colleges — a true testament to the support and guidance provided at Alta Vista. Our wonderful principal spoke about the amazing internship opportunities available and answered questions from our new families. The event wrapped up with a tour of our campus, and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us.
Looking ahead, we have more Tuesday Night Events planned, so stay tuned!
In celebration of Día de los Muertos, we have set up a beautiful altar (ofrenda) on campus. Families, students, and staff are welcome to contribute by bringing in a photo of a loved one and a small, meaningful item — such as a favorite book, piece of jewelry, or anything that reminds you of that special person. The altar will be up through the end of October, so please feel free to stop by the office and take a look.
Thank you to everyone who has attended and supported our events. Your involvement makes a huge difference. At Alta Vista, we may be a small campus, but we are truly a big family.
