Everyone returned from spring break with renewed energy and ready for an eventful month.
Seniors and their parents had multiple opportunities to attend a variety of Financial Aid Workshops throughout the month, as well as application workshops for both Palomar and Mira Costa College. We had several students apply for scholarships and attend their Velocity Summer Internship orientation as well.
In addition to our many sports and clubs continuing, our new Translation & Interpretation Program, as well as our EMR classes, began this month. Both were well attended, with EMR being completely full. Cosmetology students also had the opportunity to showcase their skills at a resource fair.
This month, we began taking sign-ups for Grad Night and several summer opportunities, including Heavy Metal Bootcamp and Summer School Adventures. Additionally, we provided students with information about signing up for SCUSM Small Business Academy, a Fashion Show at Palomar College, Vista Fire Fighters Women’s Empowerment Summit, the Sheriff’s Deputy Explorer Program and Junior Women’s Academy, TritonHacks hackathon, the FBI Teen Academy, several job opportunities including Taco Bell, The San Diego County Fair, and a San Diego North Economic Development Council Hiring Event.

Hello Alta Vista Families,
Here are some exciting updates and events from this month!
We kicked things off with the Early Childhood Education Fair, celebrating its 10th anniversary. Our students had the opportunity to volunteer and earn credits—I was so proud to see such great participation! We also had two students (one from Alta and one from MGM) speak on stage about their preschool internship experiences—an amazing accomplishment.
I also had the chance to visit Cesar Chavez Middle School to observe their Community School Showcase. It was inspiring to see how community partners support their campus and gave me great ideas for next year.
Looking ahead, we will have our final CSAC meeting on May 5th with tacos from Primos and important end-of-year information. We are also excited to host our 3rd Annual Mother’s Day Breakfast, where families are invited to enjoy a continental breakfast and take photos at our photo booth.
For our graduating seniors, we will be hosting a free cap decorating event during the last week of May. Supplies will be provided. We will also have a candy lei-making event, and parents are welcome to join and help!
As always, if you have any questions about these events, please feel free to reach out at Xochitltejadaroble@vistausd.org.
Thank you all for your continued support this year!
