As we wrap up the 24-25 school year, everyone has been busy fitting in everything they can before graduation. Palomar College was on campus twice this month to host college application workshops and we took students on a tour of their campus this month as well.
The College and Career Center in collaboration with Mira Costa College hosted a financial aid workshop for students and families.
We hosted our Wellness Wednesday Resource Fair where all of our fabulous community partners were invited to share resources and services offered to our students during lunch.
Our community liaison hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast for families where they enjoyed being able to converse over coffee and a variety of tasty breakfast items and were graciously thanked for their participation this year.
Our community school staff hosted our final CSAC meeting of the school year, which was well-attended by staff, families, and community partners.
Hard work pays off; we have a number of scholarship recipients this year; congratulations to them all!
Christopher Elena is the recipient of a $4,000 scholarship from Rising Star!
Chloe Oliveros was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the Assistance League of North Coast. Star Ramirez, Adalyn Bahuman, Marelyn Rangel, and Damian Vera were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Vista Education Foundation.
Kayla Saucedo has been awarded the Kiwanis Roades Scholarship for $1,500.
Jorge Paredes has been awarded a $750 scholarship from Kiwanis Club of Sunrise Vista.
We are so proud of our scholarship recipients and all of our graduates and look forward to celebrating with them at our graduation ceremony on June 3 at 6pm. If your student has been awarded a scholarship, please contact Mrs. Riebau for instructions on claiming it.
Rising Scholars from Palomar College came to campus as guest speakers and were able to provide real-world, real-life advice to at-risk students based upon their individual, lived experiences.
Our campus hosted “Bite of Reality”, a hands-on, app based simulation that offered our students a taste of real-world financial realities. Students were given a fictional occupation, salary, spouse and family, student loan debt, credit card debt, and medical insurance payments and the students visited table-top stations where they had to “purchase” housing, transportation, food, clothing, household necessities, day care, and other needs.
Our guidance team and PBIS team had their final meetings for the school year to discuss intervention supports for students and to address our school-wide goals for improving attendance, engagement, and motivation, while reinforcing positive behavior and supporting students in the best way possible.
Our community school staff would like to thank all of our students and their families for allowing us to work with them over the last few years as we continuously strive to offer more supports.
If you have any questions regarding completion of your financial aid application or applying for admission to college, please contact Mrs. Riebau in room 4.

As we wrap up these final weeks of school here at Alta Vista, things have been wonderfully busy with all our end-of-the-year activities!
We hosted our last Drive-Thru event for parents, serving up coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts as a small token of appreciation for their ongoing support. For our seniors, we have some special events planned, including a fun cap-decorating party and a unique workshop led by our very own student, Yelitza. She’ll be teaching students and parents how to craft beautiful silk flower mini bouquets—her work is stunning, and we’re so excited to showcase her talent!
Earlier this month, we also held our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast, where we celebrated all the amazing women in our students’ lives. Guests were treated to a delicious Alta Vista breakfast featuring waffles, pastries, and fresh fruit yogurt parfaits—all lovingly prepared by our incredible staff and culinary teacher, Mrs. Penney. The moms were thrilled, and our goal of making them feel truly special was definitely achieved.
To top it all off, a group of thoughtful parents hosted a delicious breakfast for our teachers and staff. It was a wonderful gesture, and we are beyond grateful for their kindness and support. Everything was delicious!
That’s a wrap for us here at Alta Vista. It’s been a fabulous, busy year, and we’re so thankful for everyone—students, staff, parents, and community members—who made it all possible. Here’s to an amazing finish and a bright future ahead!
